Wordful Wednesday-Ode to Angie AND Al Gore

I'm kind of flying by the seat of my pants, here, so bear with me. Wordful Wednesday sounds intriguing, but being as obtuse as I am, I'm not completely sure what I am suppose to do. Or if I am even welcome to participate. But, come on, let's give it a try...

What appears to be requirement #1: Post a photo. Check.

What appears to be requirement #2: Elaborate loquaciously on aforementioned photo. Check.

SO, this photo would founder in WordLESS Wednesday. Yarn? Yawn! But there are definitely photos that do speak 1,000 words without outside help, so I'm not completely abandoning the idea of trying Wordless Wednesday. Just not today...

ANYWAY, not much to look at, eh? Well, there's much more to this than meets the eye. You see, this represents my weekend activity: teaching myself to knit. Now, I know I have a ways to go before this becomes anything presentable, and I am not claiming to be talented or anything. But what's cool is I figured this all out online. I just googled "knitting instruction" and, voila... videos, blogs, photos... anything and everything needed to learn a new skill! So now I can't wait to get finished with this scarf (?), so I can move onto something else. The world really is my oyster! Embossing? German? Flamenco dancing? LOVE IT!

What appears to be requirement #3: Mention our fearless leader in this fun endeavor, Angie at 7 Clown Circus. Check.

Angie has a beautiful, smart blog that makes even the casual passerby feel welcome. Look at me... I landed there by accident and here I am, participating in Wordful Wednesday... a fun tradition I plan to propagate and promote shamelessly! Thanks, Angie! I hope I did you proud.

Oh my goodness.......you did me proud, prouder and proudest. I am SO glad that you found me, that you participated and that you are planning on doing so in the future. I REALLY, REALLy enjoyed your Wordful today. Your prose speaks to me, your vocabulary makes my heart sing, and your talent with the knitting needles amazes me. The world really IS your oyster! :) I'm adding you to my blog roll now (which I NEVER do after only one visit)....goes to show how one visit can speak volumes! :)

That's quite an accomplishment! I can crochet, but knitting seemed to be beyond me!

Enjoy your new hobby!

I'd like to order one table runner please. All that fancy piecing together for a sweater is so overated.

I'm very impressed by your initiative! I would've sat down to Google knitting, only to find myself sucked back into blog world.

Here's to hoping knitting doesn't take up all your time - I love your posts!

Can I just say that your blog amazes me each time? lol I love that your learning to knit from the internet. My grandma was a huge knitter, and I never had any interest. But you know, most girls my age (if they know how to knit) probably learned from their mom, aunt, grandma, etc. I think it's neat to learn something from the internet! :) I've recently become highly engrossed in Wikipedia. I may blog about it. lol! :)

PS thanks for the comment on my blog! :)

I taught myself to knit too but then I forgot. Sucks.
But good for you, keep it up.

I think crocheting is way easier than Knitting so you go girl. Looks like you've got the hang of it though.

Welcome to Wordful Wednesday! This is a great group and you fit right in! I am impressed that your first project will be a scarf. I think mine would have to be a belt. We have a fabulous yard shop in our little town and it is just screaming for me to go in. Maybe your little photo has inspired me to check it out! Especially if I can learn on the internet!
