All About Me(me), Part II

Well, according to a certain big fat know-it-all that lives at my house (that FOR NOW shall remain nameless), I have not been fully honest with you people. Apparently, yesterday I revealed only the innocent, mildly charming random facts about me, while continuing to conceal the dark truth...

So, fine. I'll come clean. The scandalous random fact you should know about me is I am extremely selfish when it comes to food.  There. I said it. This manifests itself in two distinct ways (maybe more, but that same spoiled sport who wants me exposed only complains about these).

1) I don't scoop my ice cream, I plunder and pillage it. I follow the "chunk" trail... Collecting (quite skillfully, if I do say so myself) all of the yummy cookies, caramel ribbons, and chocolate chips for my own bowl. What remains for the rest of the family is basically a ransacked carton of vanilla ice cream.

2) I'll concede #1, but this one is unfair. I order what I want to eat at restaurants. What?! Sorry, but I have no issue with ordering the same dish everyone else has selected, because I have absolutely no intention of sharing. You order what you want to eat, and I'll do the same. I don't get the whole, "Oh, I was going to order the salmon, but since you are, I guess I'll go with the pork chops." Huh? You want salmon? Well, order it, because I'm not giving you any of mine. And don't panic, I have no interest in your pork chops. Is there really a problem here?

So there it is, folks. Hate me if you must, but now at least you have the truth...

I'm with you on the ice cream...I do the same exact thing. Poor, poor negelected hubby and kids who end up with plain ice cream. And as far as number two I am a guilty part on the other side of the fence. I do order what I want, but I totally expect my hubby to share whatever goodness is on his plate.

That restaurant thing? That's ME! I hate going to Chinese restaurants for that very reason -- everyone's all "let's get three dishes and share." No. You get what you want, I get what I want -- everybody wins.

As for food selfishness, well...around here I'm known as the Food Sheriff. 'Nuff said.

I also do the same thing with ice cream! Adam always asks me if I just left the ice cream and picked out all the good stuff. Of COURSE I have.

I'm so with you on both counts! My husband does that annoying thing at the restuarant too - like I'm not being "original" enough, or whatever, because I order the same thing as he does. He should be flattered, the ingrate.

I am the same way in a restuarant. It's one thing if a couple of dishes sound really appealing to me & they also sound really appealing to someone else. In that case I'll share. But 99% of the time I am ordering for me and I don't really care what anyone else is ordering. I never think "oh I hope so and so orders that so I can have some" but apparently other people do

You dish the ice cream, then you get the best parts, right?

Right on!

Hey Deb, I saw your comment on Kristina's blog, so I thought I would give you a shout out and a link: http://www.meetmormonmissionaries.org/mormon_dictionary

Hope it helps!

That's hilarious! :P I don't do either, but I love the admission! I like plain ice cream and my DH and I are always sharing everything with each other, and now with the kids. lol!

Oh my gosh. NOW that I know these dark secrets, I'm not sure this friendship can go on... Sorry, ice cream pillaging and refuse to try something different than mine at Applebees? Not negotiable.

But you have me thinking there...

How about a dark secret meme???

I NO like to share what I get at restaurants. Okay if I agree to split with someone on the same meal, thats one thing...I know I can't eat it all myself. But I hate it when people DECIDE...ohh I'll only get soup and eat what you don't. First, maybe I will WANT to eat it all but you make me feel guilty for only getting soup so I don't eat it all! Second, when it's with friends, I PAY for the meal...and no, they never go "I should pay for half!"....grrrr

OK, so I just spent a whole lot more time than I currently have available reading your blog, and I have to say, ummm, 'You're a beast!'. I figured you'd get that since you have older kids who read your blog. My kids read mine too. And they correct me when I'm 'wrong' too.

I, too, pillage the ice cream.
