The Morning After...

Holy Mackerel.

I don't drink. But I did last night. And this morning, I am remembering why I shouldn't.  The pounding head, the upset stomach, the bloated hands and puffy face. Blech.

You'd think I went on some crazy binge at a seedy honky-tonk (good lord, I never thought I'd actually use that word), but in reality, hubs and I found ourselves alone for the evening and decided we'd have a nice, quiet dinner at the little Mexican restaurant around the corner. Two peach margaritas later, and I'd whipped out my phone and was trying to grab shots of the other customers that I found hilariously amusing (but were really just normal people eating). My husband pointed out that my flash kept going off, and that was a pretty tell-tale sign I was being obnoxious and perhaps violating some sort of privacy law (and I can't afford to break any more laws).

Speaking of breaking laws, I took Moody Teen to get his learner's permit yesterday, and was pleased to note that there were no Wanted posters with my picture on them hanging in the DMV. I did kind of inquire in a very vague and theoretical manner about what was required of someone who had let their license expire for over 6 months. If I heard correctly, not only am I going to have to take the written test, I think I may have to take the driving test, too

Oh man, somebody please pass the tequila.

and THIS is why mothers drink!!! We KNOW we can't stop them growing up, and we HAVE to let them drive, but jesus- it's damn hard.

Pass the vodka.

Two things I always leave at home if I'm going to be drinking: my camera, (No evidence), and my phone, (No drunk dialing).

That "morning after" feeling is why I only over do it about twice a year. That's all this 41 yr. old body can handle!

Good luck on the driving test(s)!

Geez. Another driving test? Now I'm going to go have a drink. I'm feeling bad for you...

If my teen was getting his permit, I would get soused too! Were you tempted to do any drunk blogging? lol!

Tenakim said...

oh wow- I would have paid money to be in that restaurant!

I can't believe you have to take your driver's test! I guess you should stay away from the tequila on that day, huh?

Aww - poor Mama. There are a few downsides to being a cheap drunk.

Hope you feel better!!

Gatorade. Lots of Gatorade.

I wish I had been there to have seen that!
Oh and retaking your driving test?
I would most certainly fail that!
You will need many more drinks to get you through that!

The morning after is exactly why I can no longer drink. lol

I remember drunk calling my cousin. I haven't lived that down yet. :)

The driving test too? Not that.

I also just had to take the written test (changing states) but I'm happy to report I didn't miss any. See, I've wanted to brag about that ever since it happened but I haven't had the opportunity. he he.

What's going on with the passports? Is your trip going to happen? Most importantly, you must email me and tell me where you are going in case we are going to the same place at the same time!

But did you have a good time??? cuz the bloating and upset tummy should all be worth it if you had a good time...lol

SO glad you werent on any wanted posters LOL

I hope you are feeling better by now. I don't drink much either, just because I hate the nauseous feelings the next morning. But it sounds like you had fun, at least.
Yes, I've read that in the dmv book...have to take the driving test too when the license lapses.
Those dmv people are used to seeing teens with not a lot of experience. Can you lie about your age? lol.
Glad there wasn't any wanted posters of you on the wall.

I can understand, I rarely drink so it hits me hard and I get stooopid.
In a sick sort of way I am hoping you have to retake your driving test, but only because it will make such an awesome blog topic.

Do you still love me???

omg I had the yummiest strawberry margarita yesterday. I'm all for another one. Or four.... but I limit myself. I only drink like once a month or less!

Anyway - I'm glad you had fun. I would have laughed if I had seen it.

Have fun with a test!! I'm not sure if I'd prefer the written or driving. I have to take a written if I want my license back too... we'll see when I have time. lol

Nothing like a little DUI to get you ready for your driving test!

And I'm pretty much the same type of drinker you are -- one or two "mild" drinks and I'm giggling and ridiculous and then quickly move into feeling ill. What fun!

Oh girl. You are SO going up the river one of these days. Leave well enough alone!!

Those Mexicans sure can mix a drink!
Good luck with that parallel parking.

Sorry, that I am laughing at you again for letting your drivers licesne expire...and 6 months ago! I'm friends with such a rebel!!

The joke's totally on me, now. Some good friends came over for dinner, stayed late, and I pretty much drank a whole bottle of red wine.

I'm up blogging right now, because I'm afraid if I try to go lay down, I'll barf.

I'm not sure I'll ever learn.

Hope you feel better! Off to go drink another Gatorade.

If only life could be as funny all the time as it is after a few drinks - but no bloating and headache - now that would be perfect:)

We must have been channeling each other I made hubs go to the Mexican restuarant and get cheese dip and chips then stop and get me some Mojitos from the grocery. I don't drink on a regular basis and the 4 I downed made me extra sleepy and the next AM I was off to a slow start:)

Hey you should move to TN you can go for 5yr before you have to retake the test, the guy told me this when I said my dad swore I would have to retake mine for letting mine expire for 4mths

Debz said...

I love you but I'm not sharing my tequila.

I will however bake you a cake with a file in it should the need arise.

Call my cell cause I'll be out at the honky-tonk that has "Weapon of your Choice" night. It's perfectly safe if you bring someone with you. That way you have help flipping over the pool table to use as cover.

I was thinking about 5 minutes ago "Wonder what Deb is up to?". Never did I imagine you'd become a lush who was taking unwanted pictures of bar patrons. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Were they those Giant Margaritas I always see on tv? I had a strawberry margarita at the outback and it kind of small, expensive and it didn't taste as good as I thought it would be. So, no second one for me, and it didn't occur to me to take pictures. I guess I should have consulted you ahead of time. BAHAHAHAHA

My son just got his pink slip-- and he drove us home from drivers ed. It was "interesting".

Girlfriend, have I not rubbed off on you at all? Peach what??

6 months? I've heard places where you have to do time for that kind of lapse.. :)

And your son, and the permit..oh my the chaos at your house is only just beginning huh?

Straight to Your Hart said...

LMAO!! The important question is...Did you have fun??

I learned at a very young age if I was going to do something that might make me feel bad the next day or get me into trouble...to make it big and make it fun!!

Needless to say, I still do it..tehe!

tiarastantrums said...

HA - I never drink and I think that is one of the big reasons why!

Lindsay said...

I rarely drink now because of those reasons. I end up acting stupid and inevitably embarrassing somebody ;) It's a good thing, too, because my tolerance is so low a good Bartle and James would send me over the edge.

That sucks about your license! I kind of figured you'd have to do that. A friend of mine let his expire and he had to take his again.
