What I need right now is some good, old fashioned external validation. Anyone game?
I seem to be transferring my holiday psychosis to everyday annoyances that I am normally able to handle (or flat-out deny). Does ANY of the following sound familiar... at ALL?
1) Are ANY of you mortified because your hair seems to be thinning at a faster rate than your husband's?
2) Do any of you have zits AND wrinkles?
3) Do any of you ever leave your wet, washed clothes in the washer so long, that, to be on the safe side, you wash them AGAIN, before transferring to the dryer?
4) Do any of you ever feed your kids oatmeal for dinner? Just every once in a while?
5) Do any of you ever yell at your kids about their stinky attitude when they probably just need a hug and someone to say, "I bet that must suck"?
6) Has anyone else ever paid $150 for highlights, only to go home and put a box of L'Oreal #6A over them? Even once? (this could explain #1)
7) Are any of you ever in such a foul mood that you go looking for a fight? (this could be with your spouse, your pharmacist, your dog)
8) Do any of you ever lie to your husband and say the trash people came extra early when really you were just too lazy to take the trash out at all?
I wouldn't be surprised if it's just me. I hope not, though. Lord, I hope not.

I do about 6 of these.
Were you able to get a response from my bloggy friends?
Yes.
Zits, wrinkles, losing hair to reveal my yamika, and dragging my feet on..count 'em...FIVE crowns.
My body is a temple. it's the Acropolis, mind you...crumbling...
1) my hair was falling out for almost a year - he would find it everywhere; i was in denial and ignored it for a long time... turns out it was my birth control glad to have it back but not looking forward to loosing it again!
2) get plenty of zits!
3) you reminded me - they have been in there for about 10 hours now... should i rewash?!
4) PB&J of course!
5) yes - feel like crap usually
6) only highlighted once... never again
7) yes, spouse usually gets me in this mood...
8) trash is his thing...
chin up !
Every. single. one. Except #1 - but I've got hair growing from places it didn't about 2 years ago.
Does that count?
I make breakfast for dinner on a regular basis - the kids think it's different and exciting. So easy to please on some days.
And thanks for #3 - I've got to go throw that load in the dryer.
Hugs my Love - Em
1.)yes2.) YES 3.)at least once a week 4.)yes, if they agree 5.)yes, but worse, I'm probably where they learned the bad attitude FROM 6.)no, waaay too cheap, but totally nuerotic enough 7.)Not that I would ever admit 8.)Just last Thursday- How's that- see why I have such a bad attitude!
2. I'll see your zits and wrinkles, and raise them by a few whiskers on my chinny chin chin.
3. Just did that yesterday, as a matter of fact. But surprisingly they didn't stink. It was just a precautionary measure, since they really should have stunk by then.
4. How about popcorn and pudding? Yum.
5. Oh, for a lip zipper...
6. Nope. No higlights. Just reddish mouse brown every time. I do currently have a gray skunk stripe though. Should probably go make an appt. since I am deathly scared of boxes.
7. Nearly lost my voice yelling at the dog while he barked over my voice at anything that moved as we drove through our neighborhood today. Does that count? He's getting a bark collar for Christmas.
My husband just asked me the other day if it was normal to dry your hair and half most of it in the sink afterwards.
I have wrinkle and the occasional pimple
Oh I had to do the sniff test on some clothes the other day that I forgot about in the washer! I should have just rewashed them but I was in a hurry cause hubby needed some clean clothes.
HAHA - I'm close to all of those too!! zits and wrinkles -what is up with that is what I want to know! Come on now - I'm in my 40's - so over this!
1) My husband's got me beat, but I'm definitely noticing less fullness in the hair department.
2) Yes. Why, God...why?
3) I do, I have, and, even worse, sometimes I've transferred them to the dryer, somehow oblivious of how long they've been in there, and not discovered my error til I put my 3 year old into mildewy-smelling pajamas. Yuck.
4) Not oatmeal, but equally balanced & nutritious food, sure.
5) My kids are a little young to be cultivating a stinky attitude (5 year old's showing a lot of promise, though), but I am a yeller like my dad and I absolutely hate that about myself.
6) Lol. No.
7) Unconsciously, I'm sure I do. Said foul mood might also be responsible for number 5.
8) You need to put the husband in charge of trash. That's their JOB!
Debbie...you rock. Thanks for once again validating me and reassuring me that I'm not weird and hopefully also not a bad mom or wife. If we were all honest about what goes on in our houses, I think we'd all find we have a lot in common...like...we just did.
P.S. Who wants to be cheery all the time? Moreover, who wants to hang around someone who's perpetually cheery? Not me. I like me a curmudgeon (God knows I married one).
Loreal rocks, I LOVE me my Feria R75, flaming red!! LOL
I'll admit to 3 & 7, but that's all I'm giving! lol Don't feel too bad, at least you have escaped panic attack #4.....for now :)
wrinkles and zits, definitely..
oatmeal for my kid..check
starting fights..thrive on it
I had a panic attack just reading them and knowing all of them I do/have done..LOL
I find however with some of those..having a "so sue me" attitude feels good in a sick twisted kinda way! Then I need to repent..d@#$-it!!!
What's up with gravity added to the mix...hehe?!
1) Though I am a guy, I didn't think that my hair was supposed to go bald since balding is supposed to be passed from father to daughter, mother to son and my grandfather on my mother's side had a thick set of hair.
4) We don't feed oatmeal, but my wife and I will sometimes do breakfast for dinner (we love breakfast).
8) I hate those days when you take the garbage out and they don't come to pick it up… "guess it's another garbage holiday again dear".
are we related?
All of them but 4 and 8. But only because circumstances haven't allowed.
It never occurred to me serve oatmeal for dinner, but now that is has you can be sure it will. I have served pancakes though and scrambled eggs.
My husband takes out the trash because he bought ultra mega humungo garbage cans that I can't lift when they are full & the driveway is an eighth of a mile long.
2) check
3) check
4) oatmeal no - cereal and milk - check
5) check
7) double check.
You are totally not alone.
I've done quite a few of these, but specifically, Sunday evening is cereal night at our house. My kids love it.
I feel a teensy bit guilty, but my Mom did the same thing, only she called it "fend for yourself" night...
Hey girl - I just realized I forgot to thank you for the B&N gift card win! I got it in the mail probably last week. I can't believe I haven't ever really stopped at your blog before!
Oh, and yes, many many times I have left the laundry in the washer only to have to re-wash it. Actually, just this week I went to put in some clothes and opened the washer only to find the last load from last week still sitting in there. Not much you can do but re-wash! Ha
I don't have kids but, I can say yes to everything else on the list.lol My biggest peeve on there is getting zits and wrinkles at the same time. It just adds insult to injury as far as the whole ageing thing goes.lol
Hope you feel better soon. :o)
You're right Deb. It's just you.
Here's mine: I HATE CHRISTMAS. Yep. I'll admit it. "Hello. My name is Dana and I HATE CHRISTMAS" hello Dana..
I just bought not one, but TWO wigs. My hair was falling out so bad that my head started getting cold with the first snowfall. Now, I'm locked into wearing them, since I got used to the warmth in 5 minutes.
I used to yell at my daughter when all she needed was for me to STOP yelling at her.
Wrinkles? Yep. And they're hanging over my ears like a hound dog.
1. yes
2. yes, thanks for bringing that wonderful detail up
3. All the time
4. I have actually given my kids cold cereal for more than 2 meals in one day.
5. Yep, and yesterday I yelled at one of them when I was actually mad at hubby. I suck.
6. I always color at home...cant afford the salon highlights :-( your really bringing me down with this quiz
7. Sometimes, but xanax helps!
8. He takes out the trash, but I would if it was my responsiblity
So you are not alone....we are all doing the best that we can :-)
Now I am so in love with you! A brilliant post and I'm so relating to #5 right now that it's really making me think.
You are so not alone and you are so a supermom...believe it.
No, you are not the only one. And thank goodness, now I know I'm not!
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes , Yes,Yes, Yes, and as for the fight...I was once in line in target feeling VERY ill. I unintentionally pass gas and the guy behind me in line remarked, "Ugh, I hate it when pretty chicks stink!"I couldn't believe it and was feeling too sick to be embarrassed, so I told him to F off at the top of my lungs. I turned to see my Bishops(pastors) wife standing there with her mouth hanging open.
It turned out I needed to have my gallbladder removed by the end of the week and I had to hide from HER for weeks at church!
Good times!
Oops, I didn't realize I was signed in as my daughter.
She would never have done that!
(1) I'll probably end up bald way before my husband. He was blessed with very thick hair. Me...not so much. Poor Livers got my genes, too! It just has to run in my family....
(2) I don't have wrinkles yet, but I do have zits. I was complaining to my husband about going through puberty again and having to buy Stridex. I'm serious, too.
(3) I've done that on more than one occasion. Bonus points for doing it more than once on the same wash.
(4) She'd probably love it. That kid can go through some oatmeal with raisins in it.
(5) (Yes) I always feel like a horrible parent afterwards...
(6) I'm not at the hair dying stage yet. I'm avoiding it as long as possible.
(7) Yes. I feel bad for my husband. He's gotten a new one on more than one occasion because I'm in such a mood.
(8) No, it's a rare treat that he does the trash, so it's all on me.
oh yeah. ON a weekly basis. or more.
Let's see--- my hair isn't thinning but it's probably completely grey now-- I color it myself at home when I start to see some grey and it's been a LONG dang time since I've seen my natural color. I've done the washing machine thing at least twice that I can think of. I don't do oatmeal because no one will eat it, but I've done scrambled eggs and toast many times. The yelling thing? Yeah, especially when I'm stressed, and then I really feel cruddy. Me, look for a fight? How dare you say that! Geesh, that takes guts...oh wait, you were talking about yourself. hmmmmm...no, I wouldn't look for fight:)
The trash is suppose to be taken out by the boys-- like I would remember. BAHAHAHAHA
1) Are ANY of you mortified because your hair seems to be thinning at a faster rate than your husband's? YES!
2) Do any of you have zits AND wrinkles? YES. More wrinkles though.
3) Do any of you ever leave your wet, washed clothes in the washer so long, that, to be on the safe side, you wash them AGAIN, before transferring to the dryer?
YES. But not often......it piles up to quickly here.
4) Do any of you ever feed your kids oatmeal for dinner? Just every once in a while?
Umm.......we've only been eating oatmeal for like every meal that past three days.....grated, they are sick, but STILL!
5) Do any of you ever yell at your kids about their stinky attitude when they probably just need a hug and someone to say, "I bet that must suck"?
sadly, yes. hanging head.
6) Has anyone else ever paid $150 for highlights, only to go home and put a box of L'Oreal #6A over them? Even once? (this could explain #1) NOPE
7) Are any of you ever in such a foul mood that you go looking for a fight? (this could be with your spouse, your pharmacist, your dog)
Yes....and since my husband is my pharmacist.....:)
8) Do any of you ever lie to your husband and say the trash people came extra early when really you were just too lazy to take the trash out at all?
WHAT? that should be his job. Or your sons. Go change that. :)
i said yes to more of those than I.WILL.EVER.ADMIT. lol, have a good one!!
Yes. So glad I am not alone!
