Tuesday's Tribute: Renaissance Man

I am going to try very hard to steer this away from me. However, the origins of this post stem from my shortcomings as a mom, and my bad habit of following the path of least resistance. See? There I go! Already an entire paragraph about me...

These Tuesday's Tributes are perfect for blathering on about Mr. G, my brave, funny son battling cf. He is a force to be reckoned with, that one. The only thing is... I have another child! Yup. I have to remind myself of that sometimes, too!

You see, Mr. Beans is easy. He is healthy, he is even tempered, and he worships (and worries about) his older brother. That's a lethal combination if you want to get attention around here. So today, it's all about Mr. Beans. I think you'll be impressed.

The list of his accomplishments is quite diverse. He is an amazing breaststroker. He plays the saxophone and has just picked up the electric guitar. He plays both instruments by ear, rendering sheet music unnecessary. He writes poems. He has been the champion, or runner up, in the school-wide geography bee for the past 3 years. And to top all of that off, he is a budding fencer. How cool is that?

However, as amazing as those talents are, they are not what make me so very proud of my Bean. It's his innate desire to share... Insisting I try a bite of his food, so I can see for myself how delicious it is. It's his natural ability to be a friend to all. It's his gentle, loving manner he has with our pets. It's the way he puts others before himself, without hesitation. It's the way, after 12 years, he still wants to cuddle and always makes me pass through the "Hug Toll Booth".

Mr. Beans, I love you. I am proud of you. And I thank you.

Alright, everybody... Won't you play Tuesday's Tribute with us?

That kid is going places! He must have some pretty amazing parents, too.

Love these tributes!

VERY cool....I knew I liked that kid from all the things I have heard about him so far.

It must be something difficult for him to shine in the shadow of everything going on with G, and yet he seems to do it phenomenally.

You know, now every time you complain about your kids, you have less and less ammo...we know better.

He and Cooper could be best friends. I vote you move here so they can be. Totally putting them first. Not thinking of how much fun we as their mothers could have. The boys are priority. How do you like your coffee?

That's so sweet- It's hard being the 'normal' kid- I wouldn't know, but I imagine! Good for you for recognizing him!!! Sounds like he's found his place in life and does it greatly!

Way to go Mr. Bean! Being a younger child myself it is understandable not being in the spotlight— but I know they shine just the same.

What a wonderful tribute to your son. He sounds like quite a kid. Being younger and healthy can be hard for him. Do not forget to take the time to hug him and tell him how much you love him

That's beautiful. :) I love hearing mommies talk about their kids!! You know what still amazes me? You talk about Mr. Beans and all his wonderful talents and his hobbies. It makes me realize that one day I won't just be saying "My kids are..." I'll be saying "Well, Silly is into blah blah blah, and Sneaky is constantly doing this...." lol Their going to be so different! Anyway - it's not about be either - so thanks for the beautiful post...

He sounds like a great kiddo... but honestly you sound like a super mom! My LastSon has CP and it makes things "different" than what I expected "family life" to be. Thanks for sharing about your life, tribute or not.

I have taken your advice and have added the logo to my post so that the post on Warm Milk is now a Tuesday Tribute. So glad the rules are so flexible.

Thanks for stopping by,

what a beautiful tribute to your son. I feel that same way, sometimes my oldest can get lost in the shuffle of the triplet dance. Although not for long before he lets some one know but I know what you mean.

Nicole Feliciano said...

Well I don't get personal on my blog, but I love this idea. Nice work!

Oh dude - I'm a little teary eyed about that one. That was so perfectly sweet to an obviously impressive gentle soul. Now what does that say about his mama?I think he is a reflection of you...

Aw, this is so sweet. I love the Hug Toll Booth - I've never heard of that. He sounds like such a wonderful kid, and that really says a lot about you. It sounds like you've done a phenomenal job with him.

That was a wonderful post! As a mother of boys, I love their compassion and protectiveness of me and others. They are fiercely loyal. My step-daughters are like typical girls. They love you until you look at them wrong. Then they'll sell you up the river.

Mr. Beans sounds like a real winner!

Ahh, makes me wanna hug!! What a pure gem he is, for a treasure of a Mother!

He sounds like a total doll. :-)

And your post gives me hope & confidence that my own boy, already a champion snugglebunny, will continue to be a snugglebunny when he's older.
