My One and Only

I noticed a few of you participated in some sort of "spouse guest blogger" deal. Please... I can tell you right now that if I were to unleash that beast, the result would be one of about 4 or 5 posts. Or perhaps an evil combination of them all!

1) shameless self-promotion of home improvement projects completed
2) urgent plea for help in convincing me he needs a 67 Vette
3) pathetic cry for sympathy for living with someone as tyrannical as myself
4) external validation of an outfit he put together for himself, that he's really just so tickled about
5) reminder to leave lots of comments about how great he is (he loves those!)

No thank you.

However, I did see that one of Mama Kat's prompts was to describe the most attractive quality about your spouse. So maybe I'll give that one a shot. At least this way, I am in the driver's seat.

My husband puts our family first...no matter what. He actually likes being around us (which is beyond me!). He doesn't do the whole "guys' night out" thing, he doesn't disappear to go play golf on Saturdays, and anytime he cooks up something fun to do, it always includes all four of us. Sometimes it drives me nuts that if he's just running down the street to pick up dinner (because AGAIN, I'm not cooking), he wants me to come along so we can spend time together. But really, I am so lucky that, after all this time, he still enjoys my company! Don't get me wrong, we aren't constantly engaged in deep, thought-provoking discussion. Sometimes, we just sit on the couch, TV on, kids running in and out, while we both stare at our own laptops (romantic, huh?). But we would both agree that there is no other place that we would rather be, and just being with each other is quite fulfilling.

I know this sounds seriously boring and simple, but it is such a reassuring feeling to know that no matter what, he is here for our family because he wants to be. Or at least he did, up until I exposed his vulnerabilities to you all (see above)!

There's a thousand other things I could write about him that would probably be a lot more dazzling than what I chose. But isn't it the little things that make the biggest impact? Plus, I don't want you all to be too terribly jealous!

I love you, Pook!

Thanks to MamaKat for inspiring us all with her Writer's Workshop. I do realize I am a day late, and perhaps many dollars short!

Yeah, I definitely don't want to hand over the blogging reigns to my husband.

My husband is probably the hardest working man I have ever met and he really takes pride in that.

I love it!!! Sounds like me and my hubs. Him locked into Call Of Duty on his PS3 while I lean against him, typing away on my lap top. lol Your hubs sounds like a winner!!

I think a post from him might even be worth it - just so that we can see how right you are! lol!!

Sounds like a perfect match!

I'm pretty lucky, too.

You lucky girl. Sometimes, I don't think my husband understands the concept of family first. And the letting you spouse take over the blog sounds intriguing, but I'm pretty sure my hubby wouldn't go for it. lol

What a great guy. My hubby doesn't do the guys night thing either. He likes to stay home too, of course it to play WoW but at least he is home. ;)

It is absolutely too cool that you still want to be together all the time. You've got a good thing going!

However, just wondering how he feels about the term of endearment, Pook?

LOL, seriously sounds like my hubs and I. Quality time is me on one couch with my laptop blogging and him on another couch with his laptop playing a game. We're so in love. Can you tell?

I love this...! The whole beginning was just wonderful; of course followed by the rest of the wonderful post. I was laughing at my desk which made it obvious I wasn't doing "work" because there is nothing funny going on here!

Dear Deb's Husband:
1. I LOVE the home improvements you have done around your home! And you look great in that tool belt, BTW.
2. Yes, because you deserve it, you can have the vette. Just get Deb the porshe cayenne and you will both be happy and you know what that means...
3. How do you do it 24/7? I love the woman, but I live way down here by her mother she needs to visit.
4. I LOVE the outfit you picked out. It makes your eyes stand out. Wear it everyday you drive
your vette.
5. Count this as 59 comments.

This is a lovely post. I agree with you - it really is the little things that matter the most, and I think that is HUGE that he makes you and your family the first priority. He sounds like a great guy.

What is that with quality time in the car? Must be "car guys." My idea of quality time in the car is just me, running to the grocery store, with MY music on.

Boy that sounds selfish.

You sound like a very lucky lady.

And you know I already think Pook is one lucky guy.

Sweet post. I am with you on not unleashing the beast. Mainly because hubby loves surprises and there is no telling what he would dish out

Well, just more we have in common. My husband rarely does stuff without us, loves hanging around the house, and yes, actually likes spending time with all four of us when he's not a work. Go figure. I wouldn't have it any other way:) So, I get where you are coming from. I was going to do this post too, but didn't. It was just one of those days.

I love this post. I never understand when people use all the cliches or demeaning comments about their spouse/partner. I love coming home to my husband and that he feels the same way. We click and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for sharing.

It's nice to hear that you have a great husband. You are very lucky to have that!

You're reminding me that I probably should take this downstairs. Laptops are supposed to be portable, you know, and I'm sure my husband would prefer me in our Lazy Boys instead. Sounds like "Pook" is a great man :)

My wife does not cook either. well except 3 times a year when she makes killer lasagna. Otherwise the 21yr ex flight attendant could not cook her way out of a paper bag. I love her. I love to cook. Problem solved. I loved the sit on the couch looking at your lap tops. A new form of foreplay. "Laptop Love" LOL

Man, I SO want to meet this guy!
He sounds like great people, Deb, I'm so happy for you.

it's fun to watch you be soft and squishy...like a train wreck...just cant take your eyes off the devastation.

BTW, dont think I didnt notice...you do a nice tribute to him and people love you...I do a nice tribute to my wife and I get called a Dumbass, Wussy, and Wimpy.

Pretty much, I think you're all nuts. And considering I'm 75% woman according to you, I guess that makes me one freakshow nutjob.

My husband has a blog (for a purpose) and he never updates! Don't want him on mine, only he probably would do a better job!!

A day late...but fully worth the wait!!

It's the simple times that bring some of the biggest impacts..that's what it's all about (you do the hoky..poky..sorry that song just came to my head..so terribly random, I need to go back to bed)!

aww - so sweet. my hubs is the same - sort of - he doesn't do the guys day or guys night or only men thing either. We didn't marry until he was almost 40 so I guess it is out of his system. BUT, he doesn't sit around with me - he would rather have his nose in a laptop - something I am not allowed to do. He would rather play video games for 4-5 hours straight - something I am not allowed to do - AND wouldn't do for that matter!! hee hee

I want to get my wife involved somehow so she doesn't feel left out. I thought a guest post might do the trick, but now I'm having second thoughts.

Having someone who dedicates themselves to the family is a great blessing to have… in spite of the fact he wants a 67 Vette.

You know I never though of it like that before but Pat is the SAME way!! Sometimes I forget that other husbands do the golf or hunting thing...mine is home. I'm his best friend...I love this! Thanks for the reminder and give hubby an extra squeeze from me. What a guy. :)
